Where Rubber Meets Road

Not every company starts out as a company.

Or with the intent of becoming one I should say. For Arun Gupta, Grailed started as a side project. He even admits he had to Google “how to make a website” just to get started.

Projects are born out of passion, not for wealth.

Gupta saw a personal need (to buy high fashion second hand) and set out to fill that gap for himself. Only then did he realize how many others shared that need.

What started out as a fun side gig learning web development and marketplace design, grew into a full-fledged company.

I’ve seen this storyline time and time again.

That said, it still speaks volumes calling back to the core of entrepreneurship: problem solving.

Create a solution for yourself—then share that power with others.

That’s where the rubber meets the road.
