Own It

Own your mistakes.

At this point, you might be thinking I accidentally sent a letter on life philosophy and not business.

Sure, integrity should have a place throughout your life, but what’s an environment where a lot of mistakes happen? Business—especially in the beginning.

No startup will be perfect. Greg Gillman reassures that “everyone messes up,” but ownership of your mistakes leads to growth.

On Monday, I discussed the power of learning through experience. Perhaps this letter should have come first to explain how that happens.

Ownership means three things: acknowledging, analyzing, and adapting (yes I came up with that all by myself).

Acknowledge you failed, analyze why, and adapt to prevent the same mistake from happening again.

Ownership = learning.
