Multifaceted

Collect knowledge from many disciplines.

This seems contrary to the adage “jack of all trades, master of none” but there’s a distinction.

Collect not master.

I’ve spent years trying to master random, one-off skills.

And it’s gotten me nowhere.

Instead, I’ve turned my focus to building a baseline understanding of many fields.

Physics, accounting, cooking, chemistry, fitness, writing.

They don’t seem related—at least not on the surface.

But what I’ve come to learn is that the way you consider a physics problem changes your perspective on solving a business problem.

That holds true for any discipline.

I don’t suggest taking the time to master physics to build your business.

I do suggest obtaining an elementary knowledge of physics that will flex your problem solving muscle.

Seeing the world as an interconnected web of knowledge has significantly reduced my learning curve—giving me an edge.

Build multifaceted knowledge, master one skill.

There is a difference.
