Monk to Mogul
Puddicombe's take on your business timeline
Morning All — happy hump day!
Is that even a phrase anymore?
I feel like a Facebook mom…maybe I should change that.
Entrepreneur: Andy Puddicombe
Company: Headspace
Industry: Healthcare
Idea: “I think a lot of the ideation took place in the 10 years prior to meeting my co-founder…It was on that journey that I realized meditation was a useful skill that not a lot of people had access to.”
Ten. Whole. Years.
That’s a long time for one idea to process.
I mean, I hear all the time to “not rush things.” And I tend to agree.
But damn that’s a long time.
Puddicombe was a monk for a good portion of his life though—so I guess he had the patience and solitude thing down pretty well.
Really interesting dude if you read about him.
Anyway, it got me thinking about my own journey.
I’ve been trying my hand at business for 6 years now (give or take).
My latest endeavor (this newsletter and 𝕏) for about 7 months.
That feels like forever—and it’s hardly a drop in the bucket.
I guess what struck me is the perspective he gave.
Don’t drag your feet. Speed broods success.
But don’t run so hard you trip either.
