First Mover Myth

First mover advantage is a myth.

Being the first in your industry might give you a boost, but it doesn’t last long.

Jack Dorsey advises it’s better to be the best than the first.

Between the number of businesses that exist today and the ease of starting a new one, brand new ideas are hard to come by.

Even if you do think of one, copycats will come crawling quickly.

The only way to truly differentiate yourself is by being the best in you field.

Which should be a symbol of optimism in a saturated business space. Why?

Being first is all about timing, not skill. Being best is all about skill.

You can out-work every first mover by doing what it takes to build the top product.

Whatever disadvantage you have being late to the game can be made up for in work ethic.

Become a Mythbuster.
