Fat Kid On a Seesaw
Work can be like a fat kid on a seesaw.
Dominating the scale of work-life balance.
It‘s easy to get overwhelmed.
Business owners know more than anyone: a given day can change in minutes.
There’re always fires to fight.
So how do we avoid the overwhelm of day-to-day busyness (and eventual burnout)?
Zoom out.
One Nine Design’s Andrea Shirey shares her approach to the subject: “Evaluate work life balance weekly, not daily.”
One day might suck.
Two days might suck.
But that shouldn’t be your measuring stick.
If the whole week was too much, then that might be a sign to reevaluate your workload.
Especially if it becomes a trend on the weekly level.
But don’t let one bad day discourage you.
And don’t let several bad weeks add up.
Take back control of the seesaw.
Trim the fat to balance out the scale.
