Good morning,

Coming off of the carnivore diet yesterday I have to be conscious to still getting enough protein in.

So today’s thought comes from the CEO of a brand I actually use.

Eat Your Protein

That’s exactly what Oliver Cookson wants you to do.

As the founder and CEO of Myprotein, that’s his goal.

But he’s also well versed in the idea of bootstrapped startups.

Starting his company with £500 back in 2004, he’s since built a net worth of over £300M.

Now I know not many (if any) of you all are DTC brand founders.

It’s a whole different ballgame.

I found that out the hard way trying e-commerce email marketing last year.

But when asked what he’d do to start from square one again—Cookson said he’d focus on social media (and PPC ads but that’s a topic for someone else to attempt).

What struck me was the social media part.

There’s no escaping it now.

Heck even a protein powder company needs it to thrive.

Now, more than ever, is social a nonnegotiable. A must have business asset.

No matter your brand, your niche, your business model.

I just watched a mattress store with a TikTok the other day.

If you don’t have company socials—you’re leaving money on the table.

A lot of it.
