Creativity Corner

You need space.

Constantly being pulled in opposite directions isn’t exactly optimal for creativity. People preach “consistency is key” and despite the ambiguity around what that means in practice, I think it’s true.

Especially for your time.

It takes a minute to get dialed into the work zone—it’s a game of momentum.

If you’re only committing 15 minutes here and there, you might get 5 minutes of deep work per session.

Which adds up to a whole lot of nothing.

Pete Cashmore reflects on building Mashable saying “[creative people] need space to try things and create.”

Physical space.

Mental space.

My space is at my desk, window open, door closed, phone off, water bottle full—plus a minimum of one hour blocked off to work.

Put up walls around your creative space and your ideas will flourish.
