Act Like a Human

Businesses are people.

This is especially true for online creators but even big corporations have a persona. When you think of a company, you can imagine what type of person they’d be.

Which brings me to responsibility.

In the past decade, there has been a massive push toward corporate social responsibility, led by entrepreneurs like John Mackey (co-founder/CEO of Whole Foods).

He frames it like this: when people view a company as a person, their first thought is “how do they serve society, how [do] they serve others?”

Humans are inherently selfish.

We want our needs to be met but we want to take care of our planet too.

Understanding this innate desire is critical as an entrepreneur—at it’s core, we are in business to meet a need for a price.

But beyond that, we have an obligation to be more than a “profit machine.”

Take responsibility for your company’s actions as you would your own.

Have your business act like a human.
